Tips
Everyone plans a wedding expecting it to be perfect. However, in the real world “stuff happens” so it is important to keep a sense of humour and a flexible attitude for the day. There is always a solution to the problem. Following are a few tips, certainly not an exhaustive list, but they will give you an idea of some things to consider when planning your own “perfect” day.
- Remember, this is your big day, don’t plan the wedding for everyone else!
- Ask your self “what if …” and have back up plans. For example, what if the photographer did not turn up? Ask a good friend or family member to take a few photographs as well. You only get one chance to take wedding shots!
- Get everything in writing and confirm with your suppliers the day before that everything will be there on time.
- Have contact numbers for Parks and Gardens department if the ceremony is to be held out of doors, and obtain a map with directions to get to the venue to send with invitations.
- If you are having a beach wedding, check the tide – you don’t want to be swamped!
- In beautiful Queensland and other tropical venues, odds on the weather will be warm and sunny. Check for shade? The ceremony may only be 30 minutes but on a hot day this can be quite uncomfortable, particularly for elderly guests.
- Even in “paradise” it rains! Check for an alternate venue just in case.
- Consider the sun’s position. Where will it be at the time of the ceremony? Will you be facing into it? If you want that perfect picture at sunset, what time will that be?
- Consider the weather in relation to your particular ceremony, eg sand/candles on a windy day.
- Provide chairs for elderly guests
- Above all RELAX AND ENJOY!
